Our Story – From Problem to Solution

2009 - 2012

In 2009, our founder had a ‘complaint’ about the terrible support from another payroll provider—let’s just say it wasn’t exactly a pleasant conversation. This experience led him to think, ‘I could do better!’ and thus, the idea for Abacus Payroll was born. The groundwork for Blenny Payroll began in 2012, when we spotted several glaring shortcomings in legacy payroll solutions. This led to the creation of Abacus Payroll, a simple, user-friendly solution. Initially, Abacus was just a humble in-house tool.

2012 - 2023

Through word-of-mouth, we began to gain traction in the payroll market, with the key to our success being simplicity, ease of use, and functionality. This approach resulted in phenomenal growth. To our surprise, it became clear that this was exactly what the market was seeking—something that legacy systems could not offer. Throughout this journey, we experienced both highs and lows, yet we succeeded in building a loyal following, with many of our clients having been with us since 2012.

2023 - 2025

Everything evolves and adapts, and in 2023, Abacus laid the foundation for a bold new vision under the name Blenny Technologies. Our goal? Not just to stay relevant, but to shake up the entire industry and deliver features and support at a level never seen before. Since then, we’ve refined and expanded our vision beyond payroll, setting out to completely reimagine the payroll experience

2025 & onwards

As of the 1st of March 2025, Blenny is officially live! After two years of hard work, dedication, and countless challenges, we are thrilled to announce this milestone. This achievement would not have been possible without the unwavering commitment of our incredible team and partners. We now eagerly anticipate introducing our vision to the market. Along with the launch, we are excited to share a dynamic roadmap of interconnected products and services, set to be rolled out throughout the year and beyond! We recognize that this transition will require careful planning, and we are committed to moving our clients to the new system in a controlled and structured manner, all while remaining attentive to the needs of new clients
